Requirements for Installing & Running LeaderGuide Pro™

Hardware Requirements

• 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
• Minimum of 3 GB RAM
• At least 200 MB of free space on the hard drive

Software Requirements

Operating System – any one of the following

64-bit or 32-bit

• Microsoft Windows 7
• Microsoft Windows Vista
• Microsoft Windows XP

Microsoft Office – must be fully licensed and registered with Microsoft

32-bit only

• Either the Standard Edition or the Professional Edition
• Either Office 2010 or Office 2007 or Office 2003
• Personalized with a User Name and Initials
• The installed versions of Word, PowerPoint and Excel must all be the same - either all Office 2010 or all Office 2007 or all Office 2003; and must all have been opened at least once

IMPORTANT

LeaderGuide Pro™ products will NOT run with:

• the Developer edition of Microsoft Office
• the 64-bit version of Microsoft Office

Additional Microsoft Software

Microsoft Net Framework 3.5 SP1 or 4.0 and Visual Studio for the Office System Runtime 3.0 are required. LGPro will attempt to load these programd during the LeaderGuide Pro™ install if these programs are not already on your computer.

If you are an Office 2007 user with a 64-bit Operating System, you may want to check your computer's Control Panel / Programs to see if you have Visual Studio Tools for the Office system 3.0 runtime installed.

Compatibility with Microsoft Office

LeaderGuide Pro™ products are add-ins to Microsoft Office.

You must run the edition of LeaderGuide Pro™ that is compatible with the version of Microsoft Office you are running.

• LeaderGuide Pro™ 9 products run with Office 2010 and Office 2007
• LeaderGuide Pro™ 8 products run with Office 2010 and Office 2007
• LeaderGuide Pro™ 7 products run with Office 2003 only
• LeaderGuide Pro™ 6 runs with Office 97 - 2002 only

Install Requirements

The person installing LeaderGuide Pro™ must have:

• Full, system-level administrator privilege to the computer
• Full Control (Read and Write privileges) to all of the Windows Registry keys contained in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE and sub-folders as well as to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software and sub-folders

And

• Windows XP users must have Read and Write privileges to C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data and sub-folders
• Windows Vista and Windows 7 users must have Read and Write privileges to C:\Users\user.name\AppData and sub-folders

Running the Install

Run the install locally on the computer LeaderGuide Pro™ is to be used on

• from the LeaderGuide Pro™ install .exe file downloaded from www.greatcirclelearning.com
• DO NOT copy and paste LeaderGuide Pro™ software files from a computer where LeaderGuide Pro™ is already installed to another computer – this WILL NOT work

Registration: Software License Key Activation & Deactivation Requirement

To activate LeaderGuide Pro™ & george! software products you must Register the License Key. And to re-use a License Key you must Deactivate the key. In order to do this, users MUST be able to access this secure URL: http://sdb.amazonaws.com/doc/2009-04-15/ NOTE: This is a secure location – you cannot access it by clicking the link. The only way to access this URL is through LeaderGuide Pro™ when either registering or deactivating the software.

On-going Use System Requirements

All users must have

• Read Only privileges to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE and sub-folders
• Macros Security set in Word to allow macros to run

Windows XP users must have Read and Write privileges to:

• HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software and sub-folders
• C:\Documents and Settings\user.name\Application Data and sub-folders

Windows Vista users and Windows 7 users must have Read and Write privileges to:

• HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software and sub-folders
• C:\Users\user.name\AppData and sub-folders

Macros Security

Macros must be allowed to run in all LeaderGuide Pro™ Word documents. LeaderGuide Pro™ is an add-in to Word, so LeaderGuide Pro™ documents are Word documents.

Word 2010 - How to set Macros

• Open a Word document
• Click on File/Word Options/Trust Center/Trust Center Settings/Macro Settings
• Click on "Disable all macros with notification" and click OK

Word 2007 - How to set Macros

• Open a Word document
• Click on the Office button/Word Options/Trust Center/Trust Center Settings
• Click on "Disable all macros with notification" and click OK

Word 2003 - How to set Macros

• In a Word document, from the main Word toolbar along the top of the screen go to Tools/Macro/Security/Security Level
• Check Medium and click OK

Recommended FINAL Step – Trust Great Circle Learning

This will set the computer to allow Macros to run in all LeaderGuide Pro™ documents, eliminating the need to enable macros every time a LeaderGuide Pro™ document is opened. Great Circle Learning is the company that provides LeaderGuide Pro™. Our macros are safe and are required for LeaderGuide Pro™ to work.

In Word, click on the LeaderGuide Pro™ tab and start a new leader guide. Under the Ribbon along the top left of your document you will see a small message about Macros Security. Click on the Macros Security message. In the dialog box that appears there will be the option to click on either “Enable this Content” or “Trust all content from this Publisher”. We recommend that you click on “Trust all content from this Publisher”.

Apple Macintosh Computers

Hardware Requirements:

You must have a Mac with an Intel-based dual processor

Software Requirements:

Same as PC Software Requirements for the Windows Operating Systems supported and the versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint supported

To run LeaderGuide Pro on a Mac you will need to

• Install and run Microsoft Office and LeaderGuide Pro™ on the Microsoft Windows side of your system
• Either at native speed using Boot Camp
• Or under a parallel operating system partition using a third party product such as Fusion or Parallels

The Mac configurations we have tested LeaderGuide Pro™ with are:

• Using Parallels versions 1, 2, and 3 with Windows XP & Microsoft Office Professional 2003
• Using Fusion versions 1, 2, and 3 with Windows XP & Microsoft Office Professional 2007
